Doors at 8:00, show at 8:30. Canadian singer-songwriter Delta Jackson, originally from Vancouver, performs at The Wise Hall (with special guests) in support of her highly anticipated debut Double EP release distributed by AWAL on April 20th. She performs songs from this release in an intimate and unplugged setting.
“Where pop and folk meet alternative country in a melodic way”
The first EP was recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World studio in England produced by drummer Jeremy Stacey (Sheryl Crow, Noel Gallagher HFB, King Crimson); Ethan Johns (Ryan Adams, Kings of Leon, Ray LaMontagne); Paul Stacey (Oasis, Black Crowes); David Catlin-Birch (World Party, Stevie Wonder, Robbie Williams) and Mikael Jorgensen (member of Wilco).
The second EP was recorded at Puerto Records in Spain with acoustic guitarist Agustín Sánchez, members of the Malaga Symphonic Orchestra and arrangements/piano by Daniel Lozano.
Canadian recording artist Delta Jackson is currently putting the finishing touches to her debut Double EP, produced by British drummer & producer Jeremy Stacey (Sheryl Crow, Noel Gallagher’s HFB’s, King Crimson). With Delta on lead piano and vocals, she has written new material of journey’s, inner turmoil, split decisions, and arriving to a place where one can reasonably assume she is comfortable in her own skin. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Rickie Lee Jones, Tom Petty, Jackson Browne, & Ryan Adams… it is clear throughout the recordings that lyrical awareness was of the utmost importance, and the group put together to bring it all to life was not accidental.
Her Double EP was recorded live to tape at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios in England, that features a stellar studio cast led by Jeremy Stacey on drums, twin brother Paul Stacey (Oasis, Black Crowes) on guitars, Ethan Johns (Ryan Adams, Kings Of Leon, Laura Marling), on guitars/vocals & Harmonica, David Catlin-Birch (World Party, Stevie Wonder) on bass/vocals, and Mikael Jorgensen of Wilco on hammond, keys, organ, synth & piano. Engineered & recorded by the masterful Dom Monks, the Double EP is currently being mixed and due for release on Friday April 20th, 2018.
The evening will begin with an opening set from local artists, Fionn. Fionn’s Alanna and Brianne Finn-Morris might be young, but don’t let that fool you. The 19-year-old twins from White Rock, British Columbia, have been singing together for most of their lives, forging folk-pop sound centred around the sort of telepathically tight vocal harmonies that only siblings could deliver. Lyrics that deliver both sharp social commentary and poignantly personal reflections are backed by arrangements that range from lushly orchestrated balladry to boot-stomping roots-rock. At the heart of it all, the intertwined voices of Alanna and Brianne sparkle, singing songs that suggest an old, wise soul dwells behind Fionn’s fresh faces.
